Oregon Sophomore Jacob Walsh Named Pac-12 Baseball Player of the Week

Oregon sophomore first baseman Jacob Walsh was named Pac-12 baseball player of the week after helping the Ducks sweep Arizona on the road last weekend.


Walsh was 8-for-15 with three homers, four RBIs and five runs scored in the three games. He had four hits, including two homers, in the opening game as Oregon won 15-3.


Oregon rallied from a 10-0 deficit to beat Arizona 13-11 on Saturday. Rikuu Nishida went 5-for-6 with three RBIs and two runs scored while Colby Shade drove in four runs.


The Ducks wrapped up the series with an 8-5 win on Sunday as Drew Cowley went 3-for-5 with five RBIs.


Oregon stretched its winning streak to 10 games with a 9-1 win over Portland on Tuesday.


The 25th-ranked Ducks are 19-7, including a 6-3 mark in the Pac-12, as they prepare to host Oregon State for a three-game series beginning Thursday.


SOFTBALL

Oregon took two straight games against Oregon State before losing the series finale.


Allee Bunker had four hits and four RBIs while Kedre Luschar added three hits in a 10-4 win over the Beavers on Friday. Oregon won the second game 2-0 despite only one hit as Stevie Hansen threw 6 1/3 scoreless innings.


OSU won 4-0 on Sunday, but UO bounced back with a 9-1 win over Montana on Monday. The Ducks are 23-11, including a 5-7 Pac-12 mark, as they prepare to host Lindenwood in a nonconference series this weekend.


TRACK AND FIELD

Jaida Ross won the shot put with a mark of 56-8 3/4 at the Stanford Invitational while teammate Mine De Klerk placed second.


Shelby Moran was second in the hammer for the Ducks while Kohana Nakato was second in the javelin. De Klerk placed third in the discus.


On the men’s side, Mason Strunk was second in the hammer at 209-9, a season-best. Giuliano Scasso was third in the 3,000 steeplechase followed by Vincent Mestler in fourth.


MEN’S TENNIS

Oregon defeated UC Santa Barbara 4-1 at home on Thursday before defeating Washington 4-2 on Saturday in Seattle.


Quinn Vandecasteele, Jesper Klov-Nilsson, and Vlad Breazu won singles matches against the Huskies. Klov-Nilsson and Breazu won singles matches against UCSB while Vandecasteele and Josh Charlton won in doubles along with Klov-Nilsson and Ivailo Keremedchiev.


WOMEN’S TENNIS

Myah Petchey, Karin Young, Jo-Yee Chan, and Uxia Martinez Moral each won a singles match to lead the Ducks to a 5-2 win over Washington State on Friday. Washington defeated the Ducks 4-0 on Sunday.


WOMEN’S GOLF

Oregon wrapped up the regular season by tying for sixth at the Silverado Showdown in Napa, Calif.
Hsin-Yu (Cynthia) Lu shot 6-over par to finish tied for 13th while Anika Varma and Minori Nogano tied for 15th at 7-over par. The Ducks shot 32-over par as a team.


MEN’S GOLF

Nate Stember shot even par to tie for 17th and help Oregon to an eighth-place finish at the Goodwin in San Francisco on Saturday. Greyson Leach shot 1-over par to tie for 24th.


LACROSSE

Gabby Cleveland had five goals and Madysyn Sweeney added three, but Colorado defeated Oregon 15-14 in overtime.


BEACH VOLLEYBALL

Oregon defeated Arizona Christian 5-0 and Utah 4-1 at the Boise Classic. Boise State defeated the Ducks 4-1.

Baylor beat Oregon for the second time in a row, compiling a 278.520-274.990 victory.
