Oregon Concludes 2023 Baseball Season With Back-to-Back Losses in Super Regional

Oregon’s baseball season ended with back-to-back losses against Oral Roberts in a Super Regional at PK Park.


The Ducks opened the best-of-three series with a dramatic 9-8 win over the Golden Eagles after rallying from an eight-run deficit.


Bennett Thompson and Drew Smith each had two hits, including a home run, while Jacob Walsh also homered. Drew Cowley and Tanner Smith added two hits apiece.


Rikuu Nishida walked in the bottom of the ninth and scored the winning run on a single by Cowley.


Oral Roberts turned the tables on the Ducks by rallying from a 7-4 deficit by scoring twice in the bottom of the ninth to win the second game 8-7. The Golden Eagles beat Oregon 11-6 on Sunday to clinch a spot in the College World Series while UO finished the season 41-22.

The Oregon women finished fourth at the NCAA championships as Jorinde van Klinken captured the discus title for the third year in a row. The transfer from Arizona State also finished second in the shot put to help the Ducks total 44 points.


Izzy Thornton-Bott was the runner-up in the 1,500 meters while teammate Klaudia Kazimierska finished fourth. Oregon finished seventh in both of the relays.


Alysah Hickey scored five points by placing fourth in the long jump for the Ducks.


The lone scorer for the men was Micah Williams, who finished seventh in the 100.
